Bernardaud "Catherine Ii - L749"
The Bernardaud "Catherine II" collection pays homage to the opulent porcelain service crafted in the 18th century for Empress Catherine II of Russia by the Royal Sèvres Manufactory. This lavish service, known as "Aux Camées," was among the most ambitious undertakings by Sèvres, comprising approximately 800 pieces and engaging nearly 40 artisans between 1776 and 1779.
Crafted from fine Limoges porcelain, each piece in the "Catherine II" collection features a distinctive celestial blue background, reminiscent of turquoise, adorned with intricate garlands of flowers and gilded scrollwork. Prominent medallions, painted in grisaille to emulate antique cameos, further enhance the design. The center of each plate showcases the monogram "E II" (Ekaterina II) formed from floral motifs and crowned with a raised gold diadem, underscoring the collection's imperial heritage.
The "Catherine II" collection encompasses a comprehensive array of tableware, including dinner plates, salad plates, dessert plates, soup bowls, teacups with saucers, a teapot, creamer, and sugar bowl.
